Health2047 Expands Advisory Board with Strategic Appointments

Cadre of accomplished business and healthcare leaders bring deep and diverse experience to AMA’s innovation subsidiary 

Menlo Park, Calif. – June 30, 2022 – Health2047 Inc., the Silicon-Valley innovation subsidiary of the American Medical Association (AMA), has appointed several new physicians, Sameer Badlani, Arthur Combs, and Mira Irons, to its advisory board. These three industry veterans lend considerable expertise and bring new perspectives to solving healthcare’s biggest system-level challenges.

Joining Health2047 on its mission to transform U.S. healthcare at the system level are:

  • Sameer Badlani, M.D., FACP: Dr. Badlani is a physician executive and digital transformation leader leveraging experience as both a clinician and technology executive to transform consumer experience in healthcare delivery and wellness. As the CDO for M Health Fairview, his focus is on operational innovation at scale, maximizing digital technologies and process improvement to generate better business and clinical outcomes. He serves as an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University for executive education programs, has been recognized in Crain’s 40 under 40, and has been named on Becker’s list of top health system CDO and CIOs. Dr. Badlani also sits on the boards of Network of Digital Evidence (NODE Health) and Carnegie Mellon’s Center for Machine Learning in Health. He received his medical degree from the University of Delhi in India, and completed his internal medicine residency training and served as chief resident at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Arthur Combs, M.D., FCCP, FCCM: Dr. Combs is a physician executive and serial entrepreneur. After more than 20 years in clinical practice, he spent the next two decades bringing new medical technologies to market as an officer of five successful start-up companies and as a Fortune 500 senior executive. His focus has centered on non-invasive technologies, although he has consulted across the life science spectrum from pharma to biotech, proteomics, molecular diagnostics and medical devices. Dr. Combs previously served as CMO of MC10 Inc., a venture positioned to revolutionize clinical trials and chronic disease management through wearable technology. He holds two honorary fellowships, two U.S. patents, and is the author of numerous original scientific articles, abstracts, editorials and book chapters. Dr. Combs is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received his medical degree from New York Medical College.
  • Mira Irons, M.D.: Dr. Irons is the President and CEO of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. She is the first woman to serve in this role in the organization’s 235-year history. Prior to this post, she was the Chief Health and Science Officer and Group Vice President, Health, Science, and Ethics at the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Irons is a board-certified physician in Clinical and Biochemical Genetics and Pediatrics. She has also served as Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at the American Board of Medical Specialties. Dr. Irons spent 30 years in academic medicine in Boston at Tufts Medical Center and most recently at Boston Children’s Hospital; she also held a variety of positions at Harvard, including residency director for Medical Genetics, fellowship director for Laboratory Genetics programs, and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. She received her medical degree from The Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University.

The new advisors will join existing advisory board members Steve Bochner, Gary Cookhorn, Francis J. (Jay) Crosson, M.D.,  Charles Hoyng, Ph.D., Joe Marks, Ph.D., Georgia Papathomas, Ph.D., Cheryl Rucker-Whitaker, M.D., Allison Spinner, Walter Stewart, Ph.D., Craig Taylor, Robert Wah, M.D., Stephen Wong, Ph.D., and Eric Yablonka. “Our executives and advisors are committed to launching solutions that will shape the next-generation of healthcare,” said Cohen. “We are extraordinarily proud and honored to have such an accomplished group of healthcare technology leaders on our advisory board.”
