Dr. James Madara is the CEO of the American Medical Association, the premier national organization dedicated to empowering physicians and shaping a healthier future for the nation. Jim brings to Health2047 the valuable experience he’s gained addressing strategic, operational and financial challenges at leading medical and biosciences organizations. An accomplished academic medical center physician, medical scientist, and administrative leader, Jim is passionate about creating a healthcare system that delivers better outcomes for all.

Prior to joining the AMA in 2011, Jim spent seven years at the University of Chicago, serving as CEO of the medical center and dean of the Biological Sciences Division and Pritzker School of Medicine, a $1.6B unit which included the medical school, biological sciences, hospitals and clinics. Prior to that, he served as Timmie Professor and chair of the department of pathology and laboratory medicine at Emory University, and professor of pathology at Harvard Medical School. Jim earned a BA from Juniata College, an MD from Hahnemann Medical School, and an honorary MA from Harvard University.
